- Assists Executive Steward/Stewarding Assistant Manager with administrative duties
- You will conduct regularly scheduled inventories
- Maintain cleanliness of back of the house Food & Beverage areas, including silverware, cutlery, glassware
- Lead, teach, coach and inspire a team of stewarding staff including Stewarding Attendants, Pot Washers.
- Ensure all Stewarding Colleagues arrive for their scheduled shift punctually and in clean and correct uniform, Following up on any report of tardiness or failure to sign in or out
- Conduct a daily line-up with all colleagues to pass on events and information
- Review all Kitchen and Banquet Set-ups and ensure that they are completed accurately and on time
- When required, ensure food and supplies are delivered to the correct location in a timely fashion
- Conduct Individual Development Discussions, and Performance Reviews as assigned on a Monthly basis
- Conduct Performance Discussions for Stewarding Colleagues, ensuring that all Progressive Corrective Action forms are completed correctly and forwarded to the Stewarding Manager.
- Ensure all operating equipment is in solid working condition, properly stored and keep consistent control of par stock
- Monitor and enforce hygiene standards in accordance with the hotel requirement
- Ensures the operating equipment is cleaned and handled in a proper way in order to prolong its use
- Maintain inventory and partner with Engineering on breakage prevention control
- Ensures all F&B outlets are efficiently equipped, and all equipment are handled properly in the daily operation
- Maintain cleanliness of back of the house Food & Beverage areas, including silverware, cutlery, glassware, etc
- Direct staff in maintaining the cleanliness of the back of the house areas, which include; all kitchens, storage areas, dumpster, loading dock, banquet areas, and ware washing areas. Manage general cleaning schedule so that the food service areas meet or exceed the health inspection requirements.
- Maintain the inventory and coordinate the distribution of all big four items: china, glassware, and silver which also include visual inspection to ensure cleanliness, storage, and safe transportation.
- Perform general/routine cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards.
- Report duty as scheduled by direct supervisor according to operating hours.
- Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Activities include standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, handling, grasping, lifting, carrying, seeing, hearing, talking, walking. Considerable repetitive motion of hands and wrists as pertaining to pouring of drinks from bottles and shaking with shakers.
- Requires the ability to lift and carry object weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for 90% of work shift is required.
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
- Thorough knowledge of Food and Beverage outlet operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction.
- Ability to walk, stand and or bend continuously to perform essential job functions.
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and associates.
- Ability to use patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and to collect accurate information to resolve problems.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations during busy periods.
- Foster teamwork: Work well in a team environment and motivate teams to sustain exceptional levels of performance.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include AM and PM shifts, weekends and holidays
- Closely work together with the Head Chef on development of the department according to divisional objectives
EDUCATION REQUIRED
High School diploma required. Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management preferred.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Minimum one year supervisory experience, preferably in a full service stewarding operation
