About us A Japanese bento and large-format pan catering business within the larger corporate group for corporate offices and events in the Bay Area. The role Senior kitchen position, reporting to ownership. You run the back of house and prepare orders alongside BOH staff, depending on the size of the day's orders. You set the standard, and you're on the line holding it. Our business lives on consistency. A client ordering three times a week notices when the tamagoyaki is browner or the karaage is a bit smaller. Your job is making sure they never notice, because nothing changed. You will be responsible for maintaining recipes, production, inventory, procurement, and training of BOH members. Early finishes, no dinner service or late nights. Hours typically run 6:00 AM-12:00 PM for production, with about 1-3 hours in the afternoon for order management, purchasing, and prep. We expect to fill this role with a hospitality professional who has a particular interest in catering/Japanese food and who wants to grow with the business into higher management, an ownership stake, or other future ventures. What you'll do Receive and confirm orders; Coordinate production and delivery timeline; Handle client requests, such as allergies and issues; Build prep lists and production schedules based on confirmed orders; Prepare orders as a working chef; Enforce recipes, portion weights, and plating specs; Own inventory, vendor ordering, food cost, and waste Train, schedule, and supervise other production staff Own food safety, sanitation, and health department compliance Required 4+ years professional cooking experience (or 2+ years if that time was in a lead, sous, or head chef role) Fluent in English Detail- and consistency-oriented Strong communication and hospitality with clients and team Comfortable with emails and spreadsheets California Food Handler Card (or obtainable within 30 days); ServSafe Manager preferred Available for weekend work during heavy catering weeks Authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred Japanese cuisine experience — bento, izakaya, or catering Large-format or off-site catering experience Japanese language ability Sales instinct: comfortable growing a standing order or following up on a catering lead How to apply Apply through Indeed with your resume and a short note about why you would be a good fit for this position.
