Nonexempt Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Produce Shift Supervisor performs the duties listed below (other duties may be assigned): Assumes all responsibilities of the Produce Clerk. Assists with the ordering and receiving of products and proper invoice routing. Acts as the Produce Manager on the sales floor when the Produce Manager or Assistant Produce Manager is unavailable. Trains employees on procedures and tasks for the department, on an ongoing basis. Assures consistency and uniformity of work techniques and standards among department members. Must assist in certain computer functions and applications. Maintains clean and sanitary working conditions of all Produce department areas, including, freezers, reach-ins, equipment, and surrounding areas. Inspects Produce; including measuring temperatures throughout the preparation process of melons, to maintain quality and sanitation by the FDA and local health departmental codes and the company's standards. Supervisory Responsibilities The Produce Shift Supervisor may be responsible for supervising a total of 3-20 employees in the Produce Department during the absence of the Produce Manager or Assistant Produce Manager. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); six months to one-year related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and frequently use hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Use of sharp knives required.
