Greenleaf Court Senior Living is seeking an experienced Culinary Director to lead our culinary and dining services department at our assisted living community in Whittier, California. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a culinary program where your work makes a difference every day. You'll lead the kitchen and dining team, develop appealing menus, oversee food quality and presentation, manage purchasing and budgets, maintain high standards for food safety and sanitation, and help create meals residents look forward to. We're looking for more than someone who can manage a kitchen. We want a leader who takes pride in the food, develops their team, listens to residents, and understands that dining is an important part of the senior living experience. What You'll Do Lead all culinary and dining services operations. Develop nutritious, appealing menus based on resident preferences and dietary needs. Maintain high standards for food quality, taste, presentation, and consistency. Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and develop culinary and dining team members. Build a positive, professional, and accountable department culture. Maintain excellent food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and food-handling standards. Ensure compliance with applicable health department and assisted living requirements. Partner with the wellness team regarding special diets, allergies, texture modifications, and resident dietary needs. Engage with residents and use their feedback to continually improve the dining experience. Manage purchasing, vendors, inventory, food costs, waste, and department budgets. Maintain required dietary documentation, temperature logs, menus, and records. Coordinate culinary services for holidays, celebrations, resident programs, and special events. Serve as an active member of the Greenleaf Court leadership team. What We're Looking For Previous culinary, dietary, kitchen management, or food service leadership experience. Senior living, assisted living, healthcare, hospitality, or high-volume food service experience preferred. Experience leading and developing culinary or dining teams. Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, kitchen operations, and proper food handling. Experience with menu planning, purchasing, inventory control, scheduling, and budget management. Understanding of special diets and resident dietary needs. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
