Dining Services Director or Executive Chef Position Summary The Dining Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dining services department within an assisted living facility. This role ensures residents receive high-quality meals and exceptional customer service while maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and facility policies. The Dining Supervisor provides leadership to dining staff, supports resident satisfaction, and helps create a welcoming dining experience that promotes residents' health and well-being. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily dining room and food service operations. Lead, train, schedule, and evaluate dining service staff, including servers, dietary aides, and other team members. Ensure meals are served accurately, promptly, and courteously according to residents' dietary needs and preferences. Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control, and service standards. Assist in implementing menus approved by the dietary and culinary teams. Address resident concerns, complaints, and special requests in a professional and timely manner. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local health, sanitation, and food safety regulations. Conduct regular inspections of dining areas, kitchens, equipment, and storage areas to ensure cleanliness and safety. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies, food products, and dining equipment. Collaborate with nursing staff, dietitians, and other departments to accommodate therapeutic and special diets. Ensure proper documentation of food temperatures, sanitation logs, and other required records. Participate in hiring, onboarding, and staff development activities. Promote a positive dining atmosphere that enhances resident satisfaction and quality of life. Assist with special events, holiday meals, and community functions as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in hospitality, food service management, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of food service experience, preferably in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or restaurant environments. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation procedures, and dietary requirements for older adults. Current Food Handler's Permit and/or ServSafe Certification preferred or required by state regulations. Strong communication, customer service, and team leadership skills. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with scheduling, inventory management, and basic computer applications. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 30-50 pounds. Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
