Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced SUBWAY Restaurant Trainer to help develop employees, improve operational consistency, and ensure that all restaurant locations follow company and SUBWAY standards. The Restaurant Trainer will be responsible for training new and existing team members, coaching restaurant managers and Sandwich Artists, conducting operational training visits, and helping identify opportunities to improve food quality, customer service, food safety, cleanliness, speed of service, and overall restaurant performance. This position requires strong communication skills, hands-on restaurant experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work with employees at all levels. Key ResponsibilitiesEmployee Training Train and onboard new Sandwich Artists and restaurant employees. Train employees on SUBWAY food preparation and operating procedures. Demonstrate proper sandwich preparation, portion control, food handling, and presentation. Train employees on POS systems, cash handling, customer service, and order accuracy. Reinforce food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene requirements. Conduct refresher training for existing employees when needed. Verify that employees understand and can properly perform required tasks. Manager Training Assist with training newly promoted Restaurant Managers and Assistant Managers. Train managers on daily restaurant operations and opening/closing procedures. Coach managers on scheduling, labor management, inventory, food cost, waste, and productivity. Help managers understand and use restaurant performance reports. Provide coaching on employee performance management and accountability. Support managers in maintaining consistent operational standards. Store Operations & Quality Conduct training visits at assigned restaurant locations. Evaluate operational procedures and identify training opportunities. Ensure proper food preparation, portion control, product rotation, and inventory practices. Monitor restaurant cleanliness and organization. Reinforce customer service and speed-of-service expectations. Help reduce food waste, product shortages, and operational errors. Support consistent execution across multiple locations. Food Safety & Compliance Reinforce company and SUBWAY food safety procedures. Train employees on proper temperature control, food storage, labeling, and product rotation. Reinforce cleaning and sanitation procedures. Assist managers in preparing for health inspections and operational evaluations. Immediately communicate significant food safety or operational concerns to management. Training Documentation Maintain employee training records. Track completion of required training. Document coaching and retraining needs. Provide training progress reports to the Operations Director or District Manager. Identify employees who require additional training or follow-up. Performance Expectations The Restaurant Trainer is expected to help improve: Employee training completion New-hire retention Food quality and consistency Portion control Food safety compliance Customer service Order accuracy Speed of service Restaurant cleanliness Waste and inventory control Manager operational knowledge Overall consistency between restaurant locations
Qualifications Required:
Previous restaurant or QSR experience. Strong understanding of restaurant operations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to train employees with different experience levels. Ability to work independently at multiple restaurant locations. Strong attention to detail. Ability to provide constructive coaching and feedback. Reliable transportation if traveling between locations is required.
Preferred:
Previous SUBWAY experience. Restaurant Manager or Assistant Manager experience. Multi-unit restaurant experience. Experience training restaurant employees. Food safety certification. Experience with POS systems, inventory, scheduling, and restaurant reporting. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on restaurant leader and coach who can demonstrate the correct procedure rather than simply explain it.

Patient and approachable Organized and dependable Comfortable giving feedback Consistent and detail-oriented A strong communicator Comfortable working with both employees and managers Able to identify problems and teach practical solutions Committed to maintaining consistent standards across all locations Work Environment This is a hands-on position requiring regular time inside restaurant locations. The Trainer may work alongside Sandwich Artists, Assistant Managers, and Restaurant Managers during normal operating hours. The position may require travel between multiple restaurant locations and occasional early-morning, evening, weekend, or holiday training depending on operational needs. Success in This Position Success will be measured by the Trainer's ability to develop employees and managers who can independently operate restaurants according to company and SUBWAY standards. The Trainer should not simply complete training —the goal is to ensure employees can demonstrate and consistently perform what they have been trained to do.
Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
