Job Description

Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for supervising and overseeing catering operations for Charis Woodland Park conferences and events, including décor oversight, setup, meal service, crowd flow, transitions, teardown, dry cleaning coordination, and budgeting. The goal of this role is to help ensure events are executed smoothly and efficiently while creating a welcoming, organized, and positive guest experience.
Essential Duties:
Work with the Guest Services Manager to develop, update, and execute operational food service plans and menus for each event. Provide leadership, direction, and training to the Banquets Team, including the Banquet Coordinator, interns, and volunteers. Maintain vendor relationships. Attend major stakeholder project meetings Represent Banquets Operations in Visionary meetings, speaking to banquet-related needs, decisions, and actions needed. Develop systems that support the successful execution of simultaneous events. Work with the C&E operational and event planning teams to create floorplans which address space needs and crowd flow Maintain oversight of all Banquet Team deadlines and responsibilities Maintain Banquets-related content in SharePoint, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information Ensure appropriate staffing levels and training; oversee schedules, office hours, overtime approvals, and task management Design and create centerpieces and décor elements aligned with event theme and vision Ensure the event space is inviting, polished, and aligned with vision for the event Manage the cleaning and maintenance of event table linens, ensuring timely dry cleaning and readiness for future use Make ongoing staffing and training recommendations to the Guest Services Manager.
Ownership of Banquets budgeting:
including planning and ongoing management Reconcile and submit monthly credit card expenses and reports in accordance with ministry deadlines. Coordinate all catering needs. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Must have excellent customer service and people skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with peers, managers, the community, different nationalities, and a wide range of people with diverse backgrounds .
Excellent organizational skills:
This role demands a high level of organization, flexibility, resourcefulness, efficiency, and a professional demeanor in the challenges represented by supporting the conference team. Must be able to effectively operate Windows-based computers and navigate Microsoft Office Suite. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Self-starter; able to think through processes and determine course of action. Ability to handle a wide variety of tasks with minimal supervision. Must work well with others and be able to delegate. Strategic mindset to identify problems and recommend solutions. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines. Able to manage and train in a fast-paced environment. Able to arrange and run meetings with direction, leaving with clear objectives and tasks. Excellent event planning skills and strong attention to detail.
Requirements:
Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Must sign the Statement of Faith. A high school diploma or equivalent education is required. Associate's Degree or higher is preferred. A Charis Bible College student or graduate is preferred. Must be able to lift up to 40 - 50 lbs. Must be able to work long days and weekends around events and conferences. Must be able to stand for long periods of time during events and conferences. Must pass all required checks.
Experience:
Two or more years of experience in banquet and/or event catering, customer service/hospitality industry experience. Minimum of one year of experience leading a team and/or in a supervisory role. Proven success in leading a team and ability to make high-level decisions. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
