Shift Supervisor Parkville Market Hartford, CT Job Details Full-time $22 - $25 an hour 16 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Writing skills Shift management Security system Guest services Food safety Full Job Description Shift Supervisor Parkville Market | Hartford, CT | Full-Time (35+ hours) | Reports to the General Manager About Us Parkville Market is the beating heart of food, culture, and community in Hartford. As Connecticut's first food hall, we bring together a colorful, multicultural lineup of independent food, drink, and retail vendors all under one roof. Our mission is to provide a place for people to eat, gather, dance, and connect. When we do that well, local Connecticut businesses and small, owner-operated vendors get a platform to thrive, and our community grows stronger as a result. The Role The Shift Supervisor is our on-the-ground operational lead, responsible for keeping the market running smoothly from open to close. When management is not on-site, you are the primary point of contact for vendors, bar staff, security, and the cleaning crew. On weekends, you are the sole operational lead for the entire building. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes to own the floor. You will make real-time decisions, manage cash and bar close-outs, keep our vendors compliant and supported, run point on building systems and events, and make sure every shift ends clean, accurate, and secure. What You'll Do Open and close the building and lot, including gates, lights, TVs, HVAC, and music, clear the lot before closing, and secure the building and arm the alarm at night. Handle cash operations end to end: count and make up tills, maintain the cash safe along with coin change, petty cash, and bar change, sign off on petty cash purchases, prepare cash and check deposits, make bank runs, and divide and distribute bartender tips. Run and verify the bar close-out, sign off on bartender opens and closes, and keep accurate cash and tip logs in Google Drive.
Manage Square POS and Dashboard:
create and edit menus and items, resolve menu errors, process refunds and gift cards, and train vendors and bar staff on their POS. Support vendors and guests on the BBOT online ordering platform, including order issues, refunds, adjusting business hours, and monitoring the terminal during service. Walk the floor with purpose and enforce vendor lease compliance, including delivery windows, food safety, uniforms, cleanliness, and signage. Work directly with GM on large scale projects to enhance and grow the business. Support the bar operations and bartenders during peak hours.
Oversee the security team:
direct positioning and sweeps, serve as their point of contact, manage security materials such as radios and vests, and cover breaks and callouts. Work with management to direct the cleaning crew, set daily priorities, and track cleaning supply stock. Set up, support, and run private and weekly events, including sound and AV for events and games. Operate and troubleshoot building systems and equipment, including Square printers, HVAC, breaker boxes, water shutoffs, the camera system, and the building sound and AV systems. Maintain the key box and distribute keys to incoming staff. Manage the main Parkville Market email and phone, respond to voicemails, direct inquiries to the right department, receive and distribute packages, and send deposit paperwork to accounting. Handle escalated customer and vendor complaints, report building and mechanical issues, and serve as the sole operational lead when no other management is on-site. Perform inventory of materials on hand for bar and building operations. What You Bring to the Table 2+ years of experience as a manager in a high traffic, well-respected restaurant or service business. Strong operational judgment and the confidence to be the lead decision-maker on the floor. Reliable cash-handling skills and close attention to detail, especially with tills, the safe, deposits, logs, and tips. Comfort with the systems we use, including Square POS and Dashboard, BBOT, Google Drive, 7Shifts, Gmail, the camera system, building sound and AV, and walkie-talkies. Hands-on comfort with building systems and basic troubleshooting, from POS and printers to HVAC, breakers, and AV. A calm, level head under pressure, with the ability to handle vendor issues, escalated complaints, and the occasional emergency. Natural leadership when directing security and cleaning crews and supporting bar staff. Clear, consistent communication, both in writing and over the radio. Weekend and evening availability, and dependability to stay until close when you are on the closing shift. We care more about reliability, judgment, and ownership than a long resume. If you have led a team or run operations in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.
Compensation & Perks Compensation:
