Night Shift (Hours Vary Based on Business Needs) Position Summary The Night Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations during the overnight shift within a produce distribution facility. This position ensures accurate order selection, proper product rotation, inventory control, sanitation compliance, and employee productivity. The Night Shift Lead serves as the primary point of contact for night shift warehouse personnel and is responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment while ensuring all customer orders are prepared accurately and ready for next-day delivery routes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead, direct, and support warehouse personnel during the night shift. Coordinate nightly order picking, pulling, staging, and loading activities. Ensure all customer orders are accurately selected, inspected, and staged for next-day deliveries. Monitor employee productivity and provide coaching as needed to meet operational goals. Verify proper product rotation utilizing FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. Inspect produce quality and remove damaged or unacceptable products from inventory. Maintain accurate inventory counts and report discrepancies promptly. Ensure all receiving, storage, and shipping procedures are followed according to company standards. Complete nightly warehouse reports, productivity tracking, and shift documentation. Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse, coolers, docks, and work areas. Enforce company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and food safety requirements. Ensure all equipment is operated safely and report maintenance issues immediately. Assist with training new warehouse employees on company procedures and expectations. Communicate operational issues, staffing concerns, and inventory shortages to management. Ensure all tasks assigned for the shift are completed before employees leave for the day. Assist with loading and unloading trucks as operational demands require. Serve as acting supervisor during overnight operations. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 2 years of warehouse experience preferred. Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Experience in produce, food distribution, or cold-storage environments strongly preferred. Forklift certification or ability to become certified. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills and ability to complete operational reports. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. Ability to work in refrigerated warehouse environments. Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and electric pallet riders. Ability to work in temps that range from 32-55F Performance Expectations All customer orders are picked accurately and staged on time. Product quality standards are maintained at all times. Warehouse cleanliness and food safety standards are consistently met. Shift productivity goals are achieved nightly. Inventory discrepancies are minimized and reported promptly. Employees adhere to company policies and safety procedures. Effective communication is maintained between night and day shift operations. The warehouse is left organized and prepared for the next operational shift. Work Environment This position operates in a fast-paced produce distribution warehouse environment that includes refrigerated storage areas, loading docks, and frequent interaction with warehouse personnel, drivers, and management. Flexibility in scheduling and occasional overtime may be required to meet business demands.
