Vice President of Operations Join a Mission That Matters Military Deli & Bakery Services (MDBS) proudly serves those who serve by operating deli and bakery departments in military commissaries across the United States. We're looking for a Region Director who is a humble, hands-on leader who leads by example, develops people, builds strong relationships, and drives operational excellence. You will oversee approximately 20-25 locations, lead a team of 3-5 District Managers, and support nearly 200 employees across your region. What You'll Do Lead, coach, and develop District Managers and store leadership. Foster a positive, accountable culture built on respect, teamwork, and leading by example. Drive sales, profitability, customer service, and operational excellence. Ensure outstanding execution in food safety, sanitation, merchandising, and quality standards. Build strong partnerships with Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) leadership. Use operational and financial reporting to identify opportunities and improve performance. Support staffing, succession planning, talent development, and employee engagement. Partner closely with Human Resources to coach leaders and address performance issues. Champion safety, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the region. What We're Looking For Multi-unit leadership experience in grocery, retail, food service, or a similar multi-location environment. Proven ability to coach, inspire, and develop high-performing teams. A servant leader who is approachable, humble, and willing to roll up their sleeves to support the team. Strong business acumen with experience improving sales, labor, and operational performance. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Strong organizational and analytical abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Food Safety Manager Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent leadership experience. Work Environment Home-office based. Approximately 60% overnight travel by car and air. Ability to obtain access to U.S. military installations. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in deli/bakery environments as needed.
