Title:
Food Service Director Qualifications High school diploma or higher. Appropriate driver's license. Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Strong organizational and managerial abilities. Ability to understand and implement guidelines set by the Illinois State Board of Education and the Alden Hebron Board of Education. Ability to work effectively with administration, teachers, staff, students, and parents. Ability to serve as a liaison between the public and the school, promoting a positive image of the district. Successful completion of required criminal background check, physical, drug screening, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Superintendent Job Goal:
Direct the district's food service program in conformance with local, state, and federal regulations and requirements, including public health and safety standards. Performance Responsibilities Oversee and coordinate the daily operation of the district's food service program. Monitor food production and service to ensure planned menus are followed and substitutions comply with meal requirements. Develop specifications for, solicit competitive prices, and requisition all food, equipment, and supplies. Plan menus that conform to federal regulations and provide nutritious and appealing meals. Maintain proper and effective inventory control, including estimating and requisitioning needed food and supplies, and inspecting, accepting, and receiving deliveries. Evaluate meal cost and recommend changes as appropriate. Prepare the annual food service budget. Maintain cleanliness of the cafeteria, kitchen and related areas in compliance with all federal, state, county, and local health codes. Coordinate with custodial and maintenance staff to ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and repair of kitchen equipment, including preventive maintenance scheduling. Participate in the selection process and coordinate and provide training for cafeteria personnel. Coordinate cafeteria schedules with building and district administrators. Provide on the job training in areas of food production and sanitation. Assign, manage, and continuously evaluate cafeteria personnel. Maintain appropriate and up to date records and files using both manual and computerized systems. Maintain confidentiality of all school related matters. Maintains the district website with current food service information, including menus, pricing, and program updates. Demonstrates proficiency in Google Drive and Google Workspace applications to manage records, communication, reporting, and departmental documentation. Perform other duties as assigned by the Administration. Terms of Employment Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education. Evaluation Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent.
