Pay:
$22-$28/hour (based on experience) + overtime eligibility
Schedule:
Full-time, 30-40 hours/week (evenings, weekends, holidays required)

Born and built in Chicago, FARE is growing scratch made restaurant brand — and we're looking for leaders who care deeply about food, people, and doing things the right way. The Role The Kitchen Lead is a hands-on back-of-house leader responsible for food execution, kitchen operations, and team support during shifts. You will lead prep, ensure food quality, maintain organization, and coach team members in real time.
Position Status:
Non-exempt (hourly). Eligible for overtime per Illinois law. What You'll Do Kitchen Operations Lead prep, cooking, and execution to meet FARE recipe standards Ensure food quality, temperature, and presentation standards are met Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and readiness Team Leadership Train and coach kitchen team members during shifts Assign roles and support team performance in real time Step into leadership when management is not present Inventory & Food Management Support ordering, inventory, and prep planning Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and FIFO rotation Minimize waste and maintain organized storage areas Food Safety & Cleanliness Maintain compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards Complete required logs and ensure safe kitchen practices What We're Looking For 1+ year kitchen leadership or supervisory experience Restaurant experience (fast casual preferred) Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to lead a team and communicate clearly Comfort with kitchen equipment and knife skills Certifications (Required) Allergen Awareness Certification City of Chicago Food Service Manager Certification (or ability to obtain) Physical Requirements Stand/walk up to 10 hours per shift Lift up to 50 lbs Work in hot and cold environments Benefits Medical, dental, and vision after 60 days Paid time off Free meals during shifts Paid training Additional Details This role is not eligible for tips Employment is at-will Equal Opportunity Employer FARE is an equal opportunity employer.
