Job Description

Job Summary The Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Joseph's Home in Palatine, IL. is seeking a seasoned Certified Dietary Manager with a passion for Food Service and LTC/Nursing Home experience. This position will be responsible for managing and coordinating all activities of the Food Service Department which includes menu planning, providing nutritional and attractive meals for the Residents, maintaining an organized and sanitary environment, monitoring supply inventories and purchasing of food and supplies as required, ensuring proper storage of food and supplies and managing an effective food service staff. Responsibilities and Duties Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of the dietary department and provide food services for residents. Develop standards for organization and supervision of dietary services. Work closely and consult with dietitian when necessary to ensure meals meet the nutritional requirements of the residents. Oversee the food preparation and cooking to ensure meals are prepared per the Home's procedures. Make daily inspections of all work, storage, and serving areas to determine that regulations governing food safety and sanitation are followed. Supervise staff of cooks, dining aides and other dietary employees, including scheduling. Prepare cleaning schedule, production worksheet, and staff schedules. Qualifications and Skills High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required Minimum of 5 years of related experience Non-profit, Catholic-based nursing home experience a PLUS Must be a Certified Dietary Manager and a Certified Food Protection Professional ( active
CDM, CFPP
). Obtain/hold any local, state and/or county required food handling/sanitation licenses and/or certificates Flexibility with schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays Must enjoy working with the senior population in a mission driven setting Experience At least (5) five years of experience with quantity food preparation and cooking plus five (5) years of demonstrated responsible food service management experience and at least three years in a management or supervisory role. Ability to speak and understand Spanish would be a plus.
