About Soup Zen Hot Pot Soup Zen Hot Pot is a new malatang-style restaurant opening at Burlington Mall (75 Middlesex Turnpike, Burlington, MA 01803) in late fall 2026. This is our first U.S. location. Because we are opening from scratch, everyone hired now is a founding team member. You will be paid for pre-opening training, you will help us set the standards rather than inherit them, and the people who show up and lead early are the people we promote first. The Role The FOH Shift Lead runs the front of the house with management or when management is not on the floor. You still run stations.
But you own the shift:
the pace of the line, the accuracy of the register, the cleanliness of the room, and the guest experience from the begaining to the end. What You'll Do Run assigned shifts end to end: pre-shift lineup, station assignments, breaks, and the closing checklist Own the flow — self-select line speed, register throughput, kitchen ticket times, and seating during peak — so guests are never stuck waiting at the one point that is backing up Verify scale calibration at open and monitor register accuracy through the shift Coordinate with the kitchen on line restocking cadence so the self-select line never runs empty, never overflows, and always looks fresh Coach and correct crew members in the moment on guest interaction, line guidance, sauce bar upkeep, and cleanliness Own guest recovery: handle complaints, comps, and remakes on the spot, and escalate to management only when it is genuinely needed Manage cash: open and close drawers, run the safe, verify deposits, and investigate variances Monitor responsible alcohol service, ID checks, and refusals, and step in when a situation needs a manager's authority Verify that opening and closing duties, line temperature logs, ice cream machine cleaning, and sanitation standards are actually completed — not just signed off Train new FOH crew on stations and standards Able to cover any FOH station when needed Report equipment issues, product shortages, and safety concerns immediately, and help place daily FOH supply orders What We're Looking For Must be 18 years of age or older 1+ year of restaurant experience, with at least some time leading a shift, training, or acting as a key holder (fast-casual, counter-service, or full-service) Able to guide a team respectfully while taking care of guest Calm and decisive under pressure — mall weekends are loud, full, and fast Comfortable with POS reporting, and cash handling Must obtain or hold TIPS alcohol service certification Open availability including nights, weekends, and holidays Additional languages (Chinese, Spanish, French and others) are a plus, not a requirement Physical Requirements Stand and walk for the length of a shift, typically 8-10 hours Lift up to 40 lbs and carry trays, bus tubs, and stock Work safely around hot broth, hot bowls, and cooking equipment Bend, reach, and work at a refrigerated self-select line throughout the shift What We Offer $18 plus tips Promotion track to Assistant Manager Free shift meal every shift, plus an employee dining discount when off Paid pre-opening training and leadership development Sick Paid Free employee parking at Burlington Mall Referral bonus
