Job Overview Join our year around team as a part-time Staff Member, where you'll learn each specialty that makes up The Brown Jug. This energetic position involves learning to prepare our gourmet sandwiches, gaining barista skills in our espresso bar, assisting customers on their search for specialty goods and fine wines, serving drinks from our seasonal patio bar, and maintaining our beloved wood-fired pizza patio. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a welcoming environment for all guests while ensuring efficient operations across the store or café setting. As The Brown Jug continues to grow within the community, this position is one that requires patience, genuine customer care and organization within a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Prepare and serve food items efficiently while adhering to food safety standards and sanitation protocols Operate POS for retail and seasonal bar Handle cash register operations accurately, including processing cash transactions and giving correct change Learn to properly prepare and serve coffee and espresso drinks from our espresso bar including specialty lattes and classic espresso beverages Support food industry operations by managing food service customer orders promptly and professionally Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently to support food preparation activities Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures at all times Assist with bussing tables, sanitation, and overall restaurant or café cleanliness to provide a safe environment for staff and guests Contribute to retail sales transactions by stocking shelves, managing inventory, and assisting customers in product selection Skills Customer service is our priority, maintain relationships within the community and create a welcoming atmosphere for those visiting guests Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting Ability and eagerness to learn and train in all areas to ensure customers are being cared for Basic math skills for cash handling, register balancing, and retail transactions Knowledge of food safety management practices and proper sanitation procedures Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and follow food handling guidelines Previous retail or grocery store experience is a plus but not required Effective communication skills to interact positively with customers and team members Flexibility to work various shifts including peak hours in a busy restaurant or café environment This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to grow their career in the food industry while providing outstanding service.
