Job Description

Old Sturbridge Village is seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer‑focused Lead Café Team Member to support café operations at the Ox & Yoke Café and other food service locations. This role works closely with the Assistant Retail Director and Executive Chef to support excellent guest service, efficient café operations, and increased sales. This is a non‑costumed position and contributes to OSV's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all guest and staff interactions. Responsibilities Greet guests courteously; communicate menu items, specials, and recommendations Operate POS system and handle cash/transactions accurately Provide outstanding customer service in a fast‑paced environment Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary café environment in line with food‑service safety guidelines Perform light food prep; follow sanitation, presentation, and allergen‑safety procedures (training provided) Inspect food for quality, proper garnishing, and presentation Assist team members during busy periods and support smooth service flow Stay informed about OSV programs, events, and guest offerings Promote and support diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and guests Other duties as assigned Essential Physical Requirements These are essential functions of the role and must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation: Ability to stand and remain active for the duration of the shift Ability to walk throughout café/food service spaces Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 25-30 lbs Ability to bend, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive motions Ability to work in a fast‑paced food service environment Must be able to communicate effectively with guests and staff Must have reliable transportation Ability to work Wednesday-Sunday, including some holidays and occasional evening events with advance notice Preferred Skills Responsible cash‑handling experience Sales and upselling skills Prior café, food service, or retail experience (preferred, not required)

Salary:
$16.00-$17.00 per hour + tips
Job Type:

Schedule:
Wednesday-Sunday, some holidays & occasional evenings
