Restaurant Shift Supervisor's job description: The primary responsibility of a restaurant shift manager is to oversee the restaurant operations during a specific shift. Key duties often involve supervising employees, coordinating tasks, addressing customer concerns, helping servers and hosts on the floor during peak hours, managing inventory, and ensuring that the restaurant adheres to safety and hygiene standards. The shift manager plays a crucial role in maintaining a smooth and effective operation during their designated shift. In the absence of the store manager, the shift manager performs most of the assignments of the manager to run the restaurant smoothly.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the restaurant in the absence of the store manager. Deliver exceptional customer service. Ensure that the exterior, back of house (BOH), front of house (FOH), and restrooms are kept clean at all times. Report any concerns regarding food quality and service to the store manager. Facilitate communication between FOH and BOH staff. Assign tasks to restaurant staff and monitor their performance. Foster a positive work atmosphere and address conflicts as needed. Organize proper onboarding for new employees, including scheduling training and ordering uniforms. Ensure adherence to safety and hygiene standards. Provide constructive feedback to employees based on their service behaviors. Ensure compliance with all restaurant policies, standards, and procedures. Address guest issues and complaints, enlisting the store manager's help when necessary. Keep inventory fully stocked and order food supplies as required. Demonstrate the skills needed to work at all BOH stations. Step in to manage the cashier's duties as needed, including taking orders and using the register and POS system. Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the store manager. Open and close restaurant shifts. Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or GED, a minimum of two year experience as a Restaurant Assistant Manager or similar role in the food and beverage, culinary, or hospitality industry.
  • Additional certification in hospitality is a plus.
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software, like OpenTable Peach Works, and Toast POS.
  • Good math and reporting skills

  • Good communication and team management skills.
