The Shift Supervisor is a dynamic, assertive leader who oversees program norms and standards on assigned shifts to ensure safety and delivery of comprehensive program services for youth. The Shift Supervisor implements the daily schedule and manages daily operations to monitor and control service delivery and preservation of a safe and therapeutic environment. The position is accountable to maximize staff performance by training, mentoring, supervision and evaluation. The Shift Supervisor participates in the multidisciplinary team within the program.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the Child Care Workers and/or the Night Child Care Workers. Completes in a timely basis, all staff related reports/documentation (including staff actions, evaluations and staff needs) and the pertinent dissemination of all information to the necessary parties or departments. Implements positive reinforcement through the Sanctuary model. Reviews staff performance on a regular basis and provides assigned Child Care Workers with ongoing guidance and formally documented constructive feedback regarding their job specific functions, responsibilities and competencies. Demonstrates ability to maintain a stable, productive and therapeutic team environment through effective communication, staff appreciation and support to preserve the employee's interest in working with VisionQuest to positively impact the lives of troubled youth. Demonstrates ability to implement day-to-day orderly operation of the total program and comprehensive service delivery including staff scheduling, coordination of youth movement and transportation, youth hygiene, school attendance and implementation of individualized youth treatment goals and objectives. Demonstrates ability to prepare for, evaluate and respond to emergency situations through drills, audits, daily safety checks and ongoing compliance to relevant company policies and procedures. Maintains accountability of youth to program norms and schedule including adherence to positive peer culture, participation in chores, community service, schooling, counseling and extraordinary experiences. Reviews all reportable incident reports and with staff. Assess the physical and de-escalation techniques utilized and review prevention strategies. Conducts daily physical plant inspections. Communicates effectively during youth movements and staff transitions to maintain ongoing and consistent youth supervision and safety. Assist in the dissemination of up-to-date information so that Child Care Workers are informed and have access to treatment goals and objectives for youth in care to ensure effective service delivery and adherence to company standards. Demonstrates knowledge of, and practices, VisionQuest's health and safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to fire safety and emergency response plans, infection control procedures, and incident reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D required. Four years' experience in working with troubled youth or two years college preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to present yourself as an appropriate role model to youth. Skill in both oral and written communication. Mastering of VisionQuest orientation and staff training curricula. Must be able to demonstrate competency in the written and physical assessment testing for Safe Crisis Management. May lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds infrequently. Performs tasks that may involve standing and walking 75% of the day; sitting 25% of the day. May bend, stoop, reach, and grasp as necessary. The pay range for this role is: 21 - 21 USD per hour(410 Morningstar Youth Academy )
