Job Description
This position is for Kitchen Supervisor in a healthcare setting at Bangor Nursing and Rehab, Bangor, Maine. Schedule will be Sunday and Monday 12pm-8pm, and Tuesday-Thursday 9:30am - 5:30pm. Fridays and Saturdays off. Wage is $23/hour with earned sick/personal day pay, vacation time, and a benefits package. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to your application! Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Kitchen Supervisor to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional food experiences. In this role, you will oversee daily kitchen operations, ensure adherence to food safety standards, manage inventory, and coordinate food preparation and service. Your leadership will inspire teamwork, uphold high-quality food production, and maintain a vibrant, efficient kitchen environment. Duties Supervise and coordinate all kitchen activities, including food preparation, cooking, and plating to ensure timely service. Lead and manage kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment while providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Oversee inventory control and food ordering processes to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce waste. Enforce strict food safety sanitizing procedures, proper handling practices, and compliance with health regulations. Plan menus in collaboration with culinary staff, incorporating dietary requirements and ensuring variety and quality. Maintain cleanliness standards across the kitchen area and ensure all equipment is properly sanitized and functioning. Monitor food production quality, consistency, and presentation to meet high standards of excellence. Collaborate with restaurant management on cost control initiatives and menu development strategies. Qualifications Proven supervising experience in a busy kitchen environment with a focus on food production and team management. Strong knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures, inventory management, and cost control techniques. Background in dietary department operations or managing specialized dietary needs is a plus. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage shifts effectively. Hands-on experience in food handling, cooking techniques, menu planning, and hospitality service standards. Previous restaurant or healthcare food service supervisory experience preferred; culinary certifications are advantageous.
