About Farmette:
Farmette is a small farm, marketplace, cafe + bakery in New Buffalo, Michigan. Our core mission is to support 100% sustainable food culture. We love our small business community along the shores of Lake Michigan and aim to uplift and enhance our unique area. We are an inclusive marketplace carrying local and sustainable produce, flowers, coffee, prepared foods, home goods and more. As the Cafe Shift Lead, you'll support our cafe by making coffee drinks, utilizing our tap system, stocking the cafe and providing friendly customer service to our customers. Farmette's cafe features sustainably farmed coffee, cold brew + nitro, espresso, wine and other specials. Responsibilities You'll report directly to the General Manager and collaborate with the entire small Farmette team.
Customer service:
maintain a positive, friendly, calm + welcoming environment for all staff, customers and vendors. Train and manage a team of baristas. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures Prepare drinks on farmette's cafe menu Operate + maintain our POS system, espresso machine, tap system and other related equipment as needed. Keep farmette exceptionally clean and fully stocked. Maintain quality and consistency of culinary products. Keep a clean, sanitary workspace, storage + refrigeration. Accept deliveries, check for accuracy of orders, input inventory + recycle boxes. Keep all spaces in compliance with all local health codes. Learn about all of our products to assist clients with purchasing. Other duties as assigned and desired Requirements At least 1 year of barista experience. A passion for sustainable products. Ability to work quickly and multi-task Demonstrate the ability to work in a team-driven environment. We are a respectful and positive work environment. Reliability a must. Able to work independently, focused and self-driven. Detail oriented. Open to feedback with the understanding that the whole team is working towards the same goal. Keep a positive and professional attitude with co-workers, customers + vendors. Be able to handle the physical work of being on your feet, walking, talking + cleaning. Occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs. Reach, bend and stoop frequently. Make cleanliness and food safety a top priority. Live within a reasonable driving distance to New Buffalo and have access to reliable transportation. We are a non-smoking workplace for the safety of our on-site farm.
