Cafe Supervisor

Job Description

Overview The Cafe Supervisor oversees daily cafe operations, ensuring excellent customer service, smooth workflow, and adherence to quality and safety standards. This role leads the front-line team, supports scheduling and training, and helps maintain a welcoming, efficient environment for both customers and staff. Responsibilities Supervise daily cafe operations, including opening/closing procedures and shift transitions Lead, motivate, and coach baristas and cafe staff to deliver excellent customer service Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours Train new employees on menu items, equipment use, and customer service standards Monitor inventory levels and place orders for supplies as needed Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations Handle customer complaints or escalated issues professionally and promptly Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe, kitchen, and seating areas Track sales, cash handling, and daily reports; assist with basic bookkeeping Assist management with performance reviews and staff development Ensure equipment (espresso machines, grinders, etc.) is properly maintained and serviced Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education a plus 1-2+ years of experience in a cafe, coffee shop, or food service environment Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred Strong knowledge of coffee preparation, food safety practices, and customer service standards Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Basic proficiency with POS systems and scheduling software Food Handler's Certification (or willingness to obtain) Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 25-30 lbs (supply boxes, equipment, etc.) Comfortable working around hot equipment and in a fast-paced kitchen/cafe setting Work Schedule Full-time; may include early mornings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs
Qualifications:
