Job Description

DISTRICT INFORMATION
Martin County West is a district of approximately 675 students in preschool through 12th grade in southwestern Minnesota. It is a cozy agricultural community with easy access to Albert Lea, Mankato, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and the Iowa Great Lakes region. Though currently spread across three buildings within 7 miles of each other, voters have approved construction of one new school building located just off I-90 in Sherburn. We will break ground on the new building in spring 2025 and expect to open the new school in the fall of 2027. There are many opportunities to coach and advise extra- and co-curricular activities. Martin County West Schools is accepting applications for a Cook at the Jr/Sr High School and the Sherburn Elementary School. Position Function Under the direction of the Head Cook and supervision of the Principal, and Superintendent, cooks, serves, and cleans up breakfast and lunch each school day for approximately 325 students and staff. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Demonstrate good work attendance Follow safety regulations Follow routine verbal and written instructions Prepare food Serve food Give attention to details Be able to work with others as a team Be able to communicate with co-workers and students No formal education is required for Food Service Workers as required training is provided on the job. Applicants are encouraged to share any previous Food service experience in their submitted resume. Equipment Uses kitchen utensils and appliances. Safety Requirements Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of equipment. Uses appropriate safety devices such as hairnets and gloves. Schedule Monday-Friday, August- May, 6:30am-1:30pm, on school days. Benefits - Short list of benefits, more detailed in the Educational Support Professionals contract

Starting Pay:
negotiable with experience, no less than $13.04 per hour Physical Job Requirements Works in commercial kitchen environment in a school building Exposure to food ingredients, cleaning chemicals, contaminated trash, etc. Moderate Work Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing between 11 and 25 pounds with some lifting of up to 50 pounds. Frequently using hands to chop, stir, and assemble; constant standing, walking, crouching, and reaching; use of kitchen and office equipment; exposure to loud machinery such as dishwasher and crowd noise; and continuous movement during the work day.
