Project Overview:
Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far - enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services. Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway. The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno. Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium. Job Summary:
In this role, you will supervise mechanical craft professionals. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets. #LI-NP1
Major Responsibilities:
Familiar with construction tools and equipment as well as their uses. Extensive technical knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations; to ensure adequate coordination other stakeholders for smooth and safe execution of mechanical activities at site. Input into Microsoft suite in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications Manage union craft. Develop construction plans, then monitor and control the work as planned. Manage subcontractors to assure that they comply with the subcontract drawings and specifications. Ensure that requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes are being adhered to. Ensure that safety and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations are being adhered to. Support and enforce Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program. Maintain positive customer relations skills.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Heavy industrial US direct hire construction experience Extensive working knowledge of construction planning, monitoring and control. Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents. Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility. Knowledge of safety and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations. Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program. Excellent customer relations and communication skills.
