Beverage Manager Bedford Golf & Tennis Club - Bedford, New York About Bedford Golf & Tennis Club Founded in 1891, Bedford Golf & Tennis Club is one of the premier private clubs in the Northeast, providing an exceptional experience for its members and their guests. The Club is recognized for its outstanding golf, tennis, racquet sports, dining, and year-round social programming. Our culture is built on exceptional hospitality, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement. We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and service-oriented Beverage Manager to lead all aspects of the Club's beverage operation. This is an outstanding opportunity for a hospitality professional who enjoys leading teams, creating memorable member experiences, and maintaining the highest operational standards. Position Summary Reporting directly to the Director of Food & Beverage , the Beverage Manager is responsible for the daily management and overall success of Bedford Golf & Tennis Club's beverage operation. This position oversees all bars throughout the property and is responsible for beverage service, scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, staff leadership, training, and ensuring exceptional service for members and guests. The Beverage Manager works closely with the Director of Food & Beverage, Executive Chef, dining room managers, banquet team, and event staff to deliver a first-class hospitality experience while maintaining strong operational and financial controls. Primary ResponsibilitiesBeverage Operations
  • Oversee all Club beverage outlets, including restaurant bars, banquet bars, golf events, member functions, weddings, and special events.
  • Ensure exceptional beverage service standards are consistently maintained.
  • Develop and maintain beverage operating procedures and service standards.
  • Assist in developing seasonal cocktail, wine, beer, and specialty beverage programs.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and presentation throughout all beverage operations. Leadership & Staff Management
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise bartenders and beverage staff.
  • Prepare and manage weekly staff schedules while controlling labor costs.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on business demands.
  • Conduct ongoing training in hospitality, product knowledge, responsible alcohol service, and Club service standards.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Lead by example through a visible, hands-on management style. Inventory & Purchasing
  • Manage all beverage purchasing and vendor relationships.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels while minimizing waste and product loss.
  • Conduct regular inventories and reconcile inventory variances.
  • Monitor beverage costs and implement cost-control initiatives.
  • Assist with beverage pricing and menu development. Member Experience
  • Build strong relationships with members and guests.
  • Deliver personalized, professional, and attentive service.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to member feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure exceptional execution of Club events. Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Monitor beverage sales, labor costs, inventory, and operating performance.
  • Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting.
  • Review invoices and receiving procedures.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and reports. Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all New York State liquor laws.
  • Maintain responsible alcohol service standards.
  • Enforce all health, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
  • Ensure opening and closing procedures are consistently followed. Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive beverage or food & beverage management experience.
  • Private club, luxury hotel, resort, or upscale restaurant experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills.
  • Experience with scheduling, inventory management, purchasing, and beverage cost controls.
  • Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, beers, cocktails, and beverage trends.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol certification preferred or the ability to obtain certification. Desired Characteristics The ideal candidate is:

Compensation & Benefits This is a full-time seasonal (March-December), hourly position based on a 40-hour work week .
Compensation:
$35.00-$40.00 per hour , commensurate with experience and qualifications. Year End Bonus During the Club's peak operating season, there is significant opportunity for overtime based on business levels, tournaments, weddings, member events, and other special functions.
