Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Shelter Manager (ASM), the Shift Supervisor (SS) will ensure the smooth functioning of the Dutchess County Shelter in the absence of the Shelter Manager (SM) and Assistant Shelter Manager (ASM) in the evening, overnight, weekend and Holiday hours. The SS works directly with the ASM to provide supervision of Resident Counselors and ensure they are compliant with their job functions in the evening and overnight hours. They must have full working knowledge of all Dutchess County Shelter policy and procedures as well as the NYS OTDA and Department of Community and Family Services (DCFS) regulations and ensures all Shelter operational programs are in compliance. Commitment to operating within a trauma-informed workplace that demonstrates a balance of kindness, competence and care toward self, colleagues, and populations served. Regular interaction with the SM and ASM is expected in order to provide shift updates and report on the state of the shift. The SS will support, implement, and promote the Agency's Vision, Mission and Credo. Must be flexible with schedule to meet the needs of the program / regulatory requirements and the clients which will include evenings, weekends and Holidays. Will be required to cover breaks, absences, and unfilled shifts as necessary.QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION
High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred Must have and maintain a valid NYS driver's license. Two year human service experience; one year supervisory responsibility a plus Ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work with residents, staff, and support agencies. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, other Agencies, and the public. Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed with demonstrated passion for HONOR's mission. Detail oriented and have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills (friendly, courteous, helpful, ability to work as part of a team). Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility. Uses diplomacy and tact when dealing with and interacting with others. Diffuses tension. Fosters collegial and cooperative attitudes. Works effectively to achieve common goals. On a continuing basis, stand, sit, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and reach, and lift and carry weight of twenty-five pounds or less while assisting residents with daily living skills, housekeeping, etc. Ability to use MS Word, Excel, Electronic Health Record Bi-lingual a plusJob Type:
