Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dependable and experienced Food Service Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our dietary department in a nursing home setting. The Food Service Supervisor will be responsible for supervising dietary staff, coordinating meal service, ensuring residents receive meals according to their prescribed diets, and maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational and communication skills who can effectively manage staff, address resident concerns, maintain compliance with facility policies and regulations, and ensure the dietary department operates efficiently. Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily activities of dietary and food service staff. Ensure meals are prepared and served according to residents' prescribed diets and nutritional requirements. Review meal trays for accuracy, proper portions, special diets, and resident preferences. Monitor food temperatures, preparation, storage, sanitation, and cleanliness. Prepare staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts. Train and orient new dietary employees on facility procedures and food safety requirements. Monitor employee performance, attendance, and compliance with facility policies. Maintain inventory of food, beverages, supplies, and kitchen equipment. Address resident concerns regarding meals, food quality, and dining services. Work closely with the Dietitian, Nursing Department, Administrator, and dietary team to provide quality nutritional services. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, infection-control standards, and facility policies. Assist with inspections, audits, and maintaining required dietary documentation. Qualifications Previous food service or dietary supervisory experience preferred. Nursing home, healthcare, or long-term care experience preferred. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
