Job Description

Earthworks Cafe & Lounge is a brand new concept in the Newark Station redevelopment house-roasted coffee, lunch & brunch, and a dinner service five days a week. This position is perfect for someone with refined culinary skills, looking to work with local ingredients with integrity and explore or strengthen a leadership dynamic. Reliability, strong work ethic, and cleanliness are musts!
Responsibilities Cook Responsibilities:
Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods Present, garnish and arrange final dishes Occasionally serve food Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes Handle and store ingredients and food with proper labeling Maintain food safety and sanitation standards Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils Execute opening and closing procedures Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment Check the quality and freshness of ingredients Monitor station inventory levels Accommodate guests' special requests Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers
Additionally, Kitchen Lead Responsibilities:
Maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas in conditions that meet the high company standards and health code regulations Leading team mates and taking ownership for the plates produced during their shift Execute the kitchen processes to maintain prompt service times Participate in discussions surrounding kitchen operations, menu changes, and staffing Maintain regular cleaning standards for the kitchen and verifying that staff is maintaining sanitation levels
