Position Summary:
The Kitchen Lead reports directly to the Head Chef, leads in their absence, and is responsible for the overall kitchen operations. This includes accurate menu preparation/execution, staff supervision, inventory management, and the knowledge and implementation of safety standards. This position requires an in depth understanding of a variety culinary techniques and strong leadership capabilities.
Key responsibilities:
Be available and present for the day to day operations on the cart, including menu planning/preparation, scheduling, and inventory management. Train and oversee new and current staff. Lead by example and demonstrate knife safety, proper cooking techniques, and great customer service. Place and receive orders from providers. Handle customer feedback and resolve issues related to food quality or service. You will be face to face with with customers and clients on a daily basis. Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu development, special events, catering requests, and operational improvements.
Skills required:
Professional fast-paced and high-volume culinary experience. An in depth understanding of classical cooking techniques. Experience with various commercial cooking equipment. Proven leadership and team management skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Ability to delegate tasks for optimum efficiency. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of food safety rules and regulations. ServSafe is a plus. Ability to manage and resolve conflicts effectively with the kitchen team.
