Provincial Senior Living is seeking an experienced Director of Culinary Services to lead all kitchen and dining operations within our independent senior living community. This leadership role is responsible for food service management, budget oversight, regulatory compliance, team supervision, and delivering an exceptional resident dining experience. Responsibilities Culinary & Kitchen Operations Oversee daily food service operations in a senior living community Plan menus based on resident preferences, dietary restrictions, and nutrition guidelines Ensure compliance with physician-ordered diets and special dietary needs Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control, and temperature Maintain standardized recipes and conduct product testing Order food and kitchen supplies; manage vendor relationships Complete monthly food inventory and manage food cost controls Compliance & Food Safety Ensure compliance with state and local health department regulations Maintain ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification Enforce sanitation, infection control, and safe food handling standards Conduct regular kitchen audits and quality assurance checks Budget & Financial Management Develop and manage department budget Monitor monthly expenses and food cost percentages Implement cost-control measures and corrective action plans Leadership & Team Development Hire, train, supervise, and schedule kitchen and dining staff Provide coaching, performance management, and staff development Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment Collaborate with Executive Director and department heads Resident Experience Engage with residents during meals to ensure satisfaction Address concerns promptly and professionally Maintain a hospitality-driven dining atmosphere Qualifications 5+ years of food service management experience Experience in senior living, healthcare, assisted living, skilled nursing, or hospitality preferred ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain) Experience managing budgets and controlling food costs Knowledge of therapeutic diets and senior nutrition Strong leadership and communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Why Join Discovery Senior Living?
