Primary Purpose:
Supervise, coach, develop, and observe all aspects of the daily kitchen operations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal child nutrition policies and regulations and to ensure that policies and procedures established by the School Nutrition Department are implemented and followed. Acts as a liaison between the School Nutrition Central Office and school administrators. This position will supervise assigned campuses to assess and provide support with on and off-site technical assistance and training to maintain compliance. In addition, this position oversees all stadium concession operations for varsity football and other assigned athletic or district events. The Concessions Supervisor ensures efficient operations, budget management, inventory control, staff/volunteer coordination, and high standards of customer service and food safety.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Food and Nutrition, Business Management, Hospitality Management, or other nutritional or business field.
  • In lieu of degree, five years food service management in K-12 school nutrition or a position with similar work responsibilities required
  • ServSafe Manager Certification or equivalent required
  • Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of NSLP, SBP, SSO, USDA, and Texas Department of Agriculture regulations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide technical assistance and educational training for school nutrition managers and other kitchen employees; demonstrating an ability to work with all levels of personnel
  • Utilizes effective and appropriate human relations skills with all students, staff, parents, district level personnel, and vendors
  • Ability to adapt quickly and successfully to changes and multi-task in a fast-paced environment; deliver quality results in a timely manner.
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Strong financial oversight and inventory control skills.
  • Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality, exercise sound judgement and discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
A. SNS Field Supervisor (75%) 1. Ensure all campuses comply with federal, state, and local child nutrition regulations and district policies. 2. Visit campus kitchens on a regular basis and document visitations, assuring quality service and operations in all secondary units and compliance with state and local standards for sanitation, safety, food storage and preparation 3. Perform the annual on-site and audit reviews at assigned campuses as required by federal regulation. 4. Conduct meal assessments, safety inspections, and sanitation evaluations. 5. Evaluate kitchen operationsincluding workflow, product quality, staffing, and financial performanceand develop corrective action plans as needed. 6. Develop and implement corrective action plans when deficiencies are identified. 7. Monitor and support summer feeding program operations. 8. Supervise managers in purchasing, receiving, inventory control, and financial accountability. 9. Provide technical assistance to cafeteria managers and staff to achieve compliance with federal, state, local and district standards. 10. Utilize participation and financial data to evaluate productivity and cost effectiveness. 11. Monitor overtime time usage; provide guidance to improve time management. 12. Utilize data to evaluate participation, quality, effectiveness, staffing, productivity, and cost. Develop and implement action plans to correct identified campus deficiencies. 13. Support menu planning software functions including production records, inventory withdrawals, and quarterly physical inventories. 14. Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate campus managers and assigned staff. 15. Conduct end-of-year evaluations; initiate growth or improvement plans as needed. 16. Promote employee morale, teamwork, and professional growth. 17. Assist with hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and staff placement. 18. Facilitate new employee onboarding and ongoing training programs. 19. Investigate workplace injuries and provide retraining to prevent recurrence. 20. Participate in administrative meetings, monthly managers meetings, and scheduled staff meetings. 21. Build and maintain positive working relationships with district leadership and departments. 22. Assist in recipe development and product testing. 23. Support marketing and promotional initiatives. 24. Maintain required professional standards through ongoing training and workshops. 25. Perform any other assigned duties necessary for the effective and efficient operations of the Bryan School Nutrition Services department. B. Concessions Supervisor (25%) 1. Must have a flexible work schedule with the ability to work regularly scheduled hours, nights, and weekends, when needed 2. Organize, plan, and oversee concession operations for varsity football, soccer, and other assigned stadium events (10,000-seat stadium). 3. Create event work schedules and ensure adequate staffing coverage. 4. Oversee and train concession staff and volunteer groups, including providing instruction on the safe and proper use of concession equipment. 5. Coordinate with the Athletic Department regarding schedules and event planning. 6. Facilitate communication with volunteer organizations and calculate proceeds per group. 7. Order, receive, and stock concession food and supplies from approved vendors. 8. Maintain accurate beginning and ending inventories for each event. 9. Monitor and manage the concessions budget. 10. Obtain and reconcile start-up change funds; complete required deposits and financial reports. 11. Complete required district payment and financial documentation. 12. Schedule annual health department inspections for concession stands. 13. Maintain sanitation and food safety standards. 14. Communicate with beverage vendors regarding equipment maintenance and repairs. 15. Ensure compliance with district safety and financial procedures.
Office Equipment Used:
  • Working knowledge of office computer, Microsoft office applications, Skyward Business software, Linq Connect cafeteria software, multi-line telephone, fax machine, 10
  • key, point-of-sale touchscreens (line computers), cafeteria keypads/scanner, printers, and copier. Duties will require flexibility of hours:
  • 60% Implementation and compliance of the school nutrition operation, quality control of food production, and special functions.
  • 10% Manager and employee training
  • 5% Clerical duties
  • 25% Concessions duties
Mental/Physical Demands:
The ideal candidate must think clearly and maintain composure in stressful situations with frequent interruptions, delivering excellent customer service. Success in this role requires thriving in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple deadlines and tasks simultaneously. The position involves both a kitchen and an office setting with frequent standing and walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Environment:
