Job Description

Position Overview The Dairy Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Dairy Department, ensuring fresh product quality, strong in-stock conditions, and effective merchandising. This role leads department execution, supports inventory control, and delivers excellent customer service while maintaining food safety and company standards. Key Responsibilities Department Operations Maintain full, fresh, and properly stocked dairy cases (milk, eggs, and refrigerated items) Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory levels to support sales demand Ensure proper rotation (FIFO) and consistent code date checks Monitor and reduce shrink through effective handling and inventory practices Merchandising & Sales Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing dairy displays Execute ad plans, promotional features, and seasonal sets Ensure accurate pricing, tags, and signage throughout the department Adjust orders and merchandising based on sales trends and product movement Food Safety & Compliance Maintain proper refrigeration temperatures and ensure logs are completed accurately Follow all food safety, sanitation, and company compliance standards Ensure proper storage, handling, and quality of all perishable items Keep department audit-ready at all times Customer Service Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient customer service Assist customers with product selection and questions Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally Leadership & Team Development Supervise, train, and coach dairy associates Delegate daily tasks and ensure completion of department workload Support hiring, onboarding, and performance development Foster a positive and productive work environment Qualifications Previous grocery or dairy experience preferred Knowledge of perishable product handling and rotation practices Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, refrigerated environment Leadership and communication skills Working Conditions Frequent exposure to refrigerated temperatures Standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Success Measures In-stock conditions and dairy case presentation Sales performance and shrink control Food safety compliance and audit results Customer satisfaction Team productivity and execution
