Mon-Fri Summary:
The Front of House Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of the guest experience at Houston Symphony performances, presentations, and events.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide an exceptional experience for Houston Symphony patrons. Coordinate and manage front of house logistics. Ensure patrons have resources for wayfinding, manage marketing collateral (including planning and placing Symphony signage; distributing program magazines including any inserts, etc.); manage pre-and post-concert receptions and events (i.e. meet and greets, artist signings, after parties). Resolve Symphony concert guest issues in a friendly and professional manner, in coordination with the marketing duty person, Symphony duty manager, Houston First representative, ushers, or box office. Support patron relationships by working in an integrated fashion with Patron Services, maintaining Tessitura proficiency, and supporting the goals of the marketing department. Build strong, productive partner relationships. In coordination with partner representatives from Houston First, food & beverage (Levy), and parking garage, uphold the Symphony's standards for an exceptional patron experience at every performance. Coordinate the services of Five Star, a professional ushering company, for Symphony events. Support the logistics of merchandise sales, including: receive and log/enter merchandise; schedule and organize resources for load-in and load-out of store; work with Symphony Work with League volunteer contacts to ensure that volunteers are scheduled and reminded about shifts; and act as the on-site contact for technology issues at concerts. Coordinate, Monitor and Report on Front of House Activities. Prepare and distribute pre-concert information sheets. Share post-concert reports with appropriate staff and follow up on resolving any issues. Track and maintain FOH expenses (ushers, HPD, etc.) as well as revenue and expense related to CD and merchandise sales. Develop, recommend, and compile a manual of processes and procedures for front-of-house management. Safety and Health. Responsible for patron safety as delegated in each venue's emergency procedures. Liaise with and schedule Houston Police Department officers and EMT on duty. Ensure that all professional and volunteer ushering staff are trained in each venue's emergency procedures and exit patterns. Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Relevant experience required Availability for evening and weekend work is essential Strong customer service skills, supported by a professional demeaner, excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong problem-solving skills, with experience in dealing with a wide variety of people in a multitude of situations Excellent project management, organizational skills and attention to detail Strong initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required Knowledge of "Tessitura" ticketing system a plus Knowledge of and interest in orchestral music a plus
