Job Description

Half Glass runs on a small team. During service, two people will work the room together: one primarily focused on guests and wine, the other primarily focused on food. As the night changes, so will those roles.

We're looking for a Wine Bar Associate who likes working that way - someone who can prep a dish, run it to a table, recommend the next glass, reset the table, and then jump back into prep without wondering whose job any of those things are.

If variety sounds good to you, you'll probably like it here.

What You'll DoWelcome guests and guide them through food and wine selections in an approachable wayTake orders, pour and serve wine, run food, clear and reset tablesRead guests, anticipate needs, and add thoughtful hospitality throughout their visitPrep ingredients and menu items before and during serviceAssemble and prepare food to order with care and consistencyReceive, organize, and put away deliveries and help monitor inventory and prep levelsKeep both guest-facing and food-prep areas clean, stocked, and organizedPay attention to where the pressure is and move toward itCommunicate closely with your teammate and support the whole space throughout the shiftWhat We're Looking ForExperience in restaurants, wine bars, cafes, bakeries, specialty food, retail, or another hospitalityenvironment is helpful, but not requiredComfort working with both guests and foodInterest in wine and a willingness to keep learningWarm, confident communication and strong attention to detailAbility to switch gears without getting rattledReliability, curiosity, and a team-first approachSomeone who takes pride in the whole space, not just one station You don't have to arrive as both a sommelier and a chef. We're more interested in hospitality instincts, curiosity, reliability, and willingness to learn than a particular resume.

RequirementsAble to stand and move for the duration of a shift and perform the physical tasks of the roleAble to safely lift and carry typical restaurant, wine, or kitchen inventoryWashington State food-service and/or alcohol-service permits, or ability to obtain themMust be at least 18 years oldAbout Half GlassHalf Glass is a small neighborhood wine bar opening in White Center fall 2026. We're building the kind ofplace we've always wanted close to home: thoughtful but relaxed, high-quality without being precious, and comfortable enough to become part of someone's regular routine.

We'll serve a curated, approachable wine list alongside a small menu of snacks and shareable plates. We care a lot about what we serve, but just as much about how people feel while they're here. Whether someone wants to geek out about a bottle or just wants something cold and delicious after work, they should feel equally at home.

We're a small, owner-operated business, so everyone on the opening team will have a meaningful hand in shaping how Half Glass works and feels.
