Travel Agent Trainee Full Time Position Job Description Summary:
Successful and established luxury travel agency is seeking someone to start as an administrative assistant. This is a perfect opportunity for a hard working person to learn to become a travel consultant. Start out learning our business with simple administrative tasks, such as answering the phones, and working on the finer details of custom itineraries. We sell the world, and there is a lot to learn before you can jump off and start handling high end custom trips. This is the perfect way for a new college grad OR someone looking for a career change to learn a fun and exciting profession. Consider this a paid, full-time internship to learn to become a luxury travel consultant. This will take about a year to graduate to Junior Travel Consultant and another year to become a full time Travel Consultant position.
Responsibilities:
Support daily operations by performing administrative tasks Answering the phone Managing outbound shipping and deliveries Database Updates Working with other agents in the office to assist on logistics with client travel Prepare and Cross-Check Travel Documentation Helping make sure our clients have a great travel experience
Qualifications:
Great written and verbal communication skills Strong Computer Skills•Strong Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Skills. Strong Organizational Skills Pleasant attitude Attention to Detail, organized and able to handle multiple tasks High degree of adaptability & flexibility Willingness to learn new skills and functions daily Strong work ethic and team player Patience and flexibility Work independently in the absence of supervision
Requirements:
High School diploma, but prefer college degree or at least 2 years of experience Must have permanent legal authorization to work in the USA Daily in-office attendance required Additional customer service or administrative work experience a plus International & domestic travel experience is a great advantage Experience with client database programs (Trip Suite) and GDS (Sabre) a plus Full time Position (8:30am•5:00pm Mon•Fri)
Benefits:
Salary:
Base of $ 42,000 to $ 45,000 depending on experience Benefits include 401K match, paid vacation and sick days, health insurance. Travel opportunities will come with experience
Location:
Office is located in Chicago Loop. Close to many public transportation options, including all Subway lines, commuter trains, bus routes and Divvy bike stations.
