About the Position We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused, and outgoing Tour Guide/Driver to lead English-language Arctic Circle and Northern Lights tours from Fairbanks. This guest-facing position combines professional driving, tour narration, photography assistance, and customer service. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, driving in winter conditions, and maintaining a positive attitude during long or late-night tours. Our winter season can be fast-paced, especially during holidays and peak aurora periods. Candidates must be dependable, flexible, and able to perform well under pressure. Primary Responsibilities Safely operate passenger vans on Arctic Circle and Northern Lights tours Provide clear, engaging, and accurate tour commentary in English Welcome guests and create a friendly, professional tour experience Assist guests with Northern Lights photography when needed Monitor weather, road, and tour conditions throughout each trip Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections Keep assigned vehicles clean, organized, fueled, and ready for service Maintain accurate passenger counts and follow scheduled itineraries Communicate promptly with the operations team regarding delays, safety concerns, or itinerary changes Respond calmly and professionally to unexpected situations Follow all company safety procedures and guest-service standards Schedule and Availability Tour schedules vary depending on reservations, weather, road conditions, and aurora activity.
This position requires availability for:
Evening and overnight shifts Long-distance Arctic Circle tours Weekends Major holidays Occasional schedule changes or extended hours Holiday availability is mandatory and is a condition of employment. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day are among our busiest operating periods. Applicants must be available to work scheduled shifts during these dates. Extended time-off requests during peak holiday periods generally cannot be accommodated. Qualifications Fluent and confident spoken English Valid U.S. driver's license Clean driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements Comfortable driving passenger vans for extended periods Able to work safely in snow, ice, darkness, and extreme winter temperatures Strong communication and customer-service skills Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work independently Able to remain calm and professional under pressure Comfortable working irregular hours, including overnight shifts Able to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with basic vehicle preparation Must pass a motor vehicle record check and background check Preferred Qualifications Previous tour guide, hospitality, or professional driving experience Experience driving during Alaska winters Knowledge of Fairbanks, the Dalton Highway, the Arctic Circle, and the Northern Lights Experience photographing the Northern Lights CPR and First Aid certification
