Position Summary:
Interested in being a student tour guide? The Gamecock Student Tour Guides administer daily tours to potential students and families, along with university employees and partners! As a front facing student leader, the Gamecock Guides are expected to uphold university branding standards, both on and off the clock, while being able to confidently illustrate one's university knowledge. Gamecock Guides may be required to work event days such as Admitted Student Days, Preview Days and undergo mandatory team training. When not administering a tour, the Gamecock Guides will be assisting with daily administrative tasks such as answering calls, emails, and providing excellent customer service practices. This position will be under the direction of the Assistant Director of Campus Visits. •Must be eligible for Federal Work Study. If uncertain of eligibility, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist the Office of Campus Visits with campus tours (individual, group, special) Answer telephones and complete general office duties Participate in campus / recruitment events Responsible for greeting guests, check in for tours Additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least six (6) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. •) If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher. Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from MyJSU. Must be eligible for Federal Work Study. May not be a Dual Enrollment Student.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
University mission/campus life Student resources Customer service Microsoft office (Outlook, Word, Excel) English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Skills:
Public speaking and vocal projection Punctuality and adaptability Interpersonal communication Team-oriented, problem-solving Ability to: Speak in front of small/large crowds, command an audience Connect and communicate effectively with diverse populations Mobility across campus; lift up to 25 lbs. Be responsible for large groups of people Sell the University to a stranger
