Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Kayak Tour Guide at Lake Powell and ignite the spirit of adventure in every guest! In this energetic role, you will oversee guided kayak excursions, ensuring safety, engagement, and memorable experiences for all participants. Your passion for the outdoors, exceptional communication skills, and leadership abilities will inspire confidence and enthusiasm among your team and guests alike. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to share your love of nature while honing your teaching and public speaking talents in a vibrant environment. Responsibilities Lead engaging and informative kayak tours, ensuring all safety protocols are strictly followed Provide clear instructions and demonstrations on kayaking techniques and safety procedures to guests of varying skill levels Manage and train a team of assistant guides, fostering teamwork, motivation, and excellent customer service standards Communicate effectively with guests, answering questions and sharing interesting facts about local wildlife and geography Monitor weather conditions and environmental factors to adapt tours for safety and enjoyment Conduct pre- and post-tour equipment checks, maintaining high standards of safety gear and kayak condition Promote a positive atmosphere by encouraging guest participation, fun, and respect for nature Strong swimming ability and comfort on open water Ability to lift 50+ lbs (equipment handling) Experience Proven leadership experience in outdoor guiding or similar roles, with a passion for water sports or outdoor recreation Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to connect with diverse guests Strong public speaking skills with the ability to teach kayaking techniques confidently and clearly Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor Effective time management to coordinate tours smoothly and adhere to schedules Outstanding communication skills to relay safety instructions clearly and foster guest engagement Previous experience in teaching or guiding groups in outdoor settings is preferred Must have CPR/First Aid certified/ACA Level 1 or greater Kayaking Certification (or willing to obtain before start date)Work outdoors in one of the most beautiful destinations in the US where your leadership transforms ordinary outings into extraordinary memories!
