This position is responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences, growing service revenue, developing industry-leading guides and instructors, and ensuring operational excellence across all service offerings. Key Responsibilities Guide and Instructor Leadership
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and retain guides and instructors
  • Develop guide standards, training programs, and evaluation processes
  • Conduct performance reviews and coaching
  • Build team culture and accountability Service Operations
  • Oversee guide bookings, classes, and destination travel programs
  • Maintain booking system accuracy and reporting
  • Manage permits, user-day allocations, and compliance requirements
  • Develop systems and procedures Business Development
  • Grow guide trip, class, and destination travel revenue
  • Identify and execute on new service opportunities
  • Develop strategic partnerships Team Building and Support
  • Maintain a visible presence in the fly shop and support customer interactions related to guide services, education, and travel offerings
  • Work closely across departments, supporting their efforts.
Examples may include:
o Providing additional floor coverage as needed o Providing marketing content for newsletters and social media o Providing event direction and support through planning and guide participation o Participating in events that support permit providers and conservation such as clean-ups, fishing derbies, etc. Metrics and Accountability
  • Monitor service revenue, margins, guide utilization, and program performance
  • Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Recommend pricing and compensation strategies
  • Produce monthly service performance reports Qualifications Required Passion for and significant experience fly fishing Strong leadership and communication skills Experience managing customer-facing operations Ability to organize multiple projects and deadlines Financial and operational management skills High proficiency in computer/technical skills and platforms A positive, people-focused attitude Preferred Guide service management experience Familiarity with local waters Fly-fishing guide experience Experience teaching fly fishing classes Retail sales experience Permit management experience Experience leading training programs Schedule Full-time position based in Colorado Springs.
Schedule includes some weekends and shop events, typical in retail operations On-site coordination for specialty guided experiences and related events (for example
  • corporate trips, hosted "night before" networking gatherings, etc.
)
Compensation & Benefits Compensation:
$25
  • 30 per hour (equaling approx. $52,000
  • $62,400 annually), depending on experience, with potential performance bonuses based on measurable guide services improvements.
