FRENCH SPEAKING TOUR GUIDE - ACADIAN VILLAGE LARC - 3.3
Lafayette, LA Job Details Part-time $35 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications French Customer service Basic math Public speaking Cash handling Time management Full Job Description Position is part-time and on an on call basis with a weeks notice before Tour starts. Need a fluent French speaking individual who loves people and who wants to share and educate about the Acadian Culture and Heritage!
SUMMARY:
Taking guests of all ages and backgrounds on interpretive tours through Acadian Village's historic cultural grounds. Tour guide 1 will be asked to work no more than 1.5 hours for a guided tour, for one said company, within that timeframe, for a gross of $35.00 a tour. Any tour given consecutively, for the same customer, and exceeds 1.5 hours will be considered work of a Tour Guide 2.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
includes but not limited to the following: Provide accurate historical and cultural information presented in an interesting manner Greeting, directing and supervising groups in a friendly manner is essential, especially for school tours with large amounts of children Will be in charge of assisting management with inventory pertaining to all contents in the homes and assessing improvements for all aspects of the tour program. Any other duties assigned as needed.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent public speaking skills Ability to work flexible schedule (Predominately M-F; 10am - 4pm) Excellent customer service Ability to stand / walk for two hours at a time in extreme temperature conditions (heat, humidity, cold, etc.) Ability to retain historical facts Having time management skills Being enthusiastic and friendly
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months or more related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
