Job Description

General Definition of Work:
Performs intermediate semiskilled work coordinating day-to-day operations of designated Senior Center, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assigned personnel. Starting at $14.00/hr
Essential Functions:
Establishes a friendly, pleasant and supportive environment by meeting and greeting seniors; keeping them informed of services and programs, menus, events, and other matters of interest; and by maintaining an up-to-date bulletin board. Plans, schedules, implements and directs a variety of social, recreational, and educational activities and programs geared to meet varied and unique needs and interests of seniors. Responsible for motivating and encouraging senior participants to take leadership roles in program planning and implementation. Works with local agencies and organizations to plan and promote activities inside and outside confines of center to involve participation of seniors. Coordinates volunteers. Performs general office duties such as answering phones, executing mandatory paperwork, preparing reports, maintaining calendars, and ordering supplies. Maintains client records for home delivered meals program. Responsible for serving congregate meals, posting menus, and taking reservations. Prepares tables, seating, and serving line. Collects and records donations and submits proper documentation to main office. Takes temperature of food upon delivery, prior to serving, and during serving. Ensures proper portion control and sanitary conditions. Recruits and trains volunteers for the home delivered meal program and to assist in congregate meal duties. Ensures that after the completion of the meal, all food and trash are removed, and all fixtures, cooking and serving utensils, and equipment are clean. Responsible for packing meals, verifying shipments, performing follow-up inquiries with clients and making referrals to caseworkers when necessary; transports seniors as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or
GED Experience:
Minimal (less than 1 year) experience.
Special Requirements:
Possess Chauffeur's license with State of Michigan upon hire. ( Depending upon assignment) Obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications within 6 months of hire. Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan.
