Job Summary:
Primary work will take place at the North Pole site in Whittier, where they will be supervising
THE POLAR EXPRESS
™ employees including Hero Boy, Hero Girl, Know-it-All Kid, Elves, and NP Santa. As a Child Wrangler you will engage in the key oversight and timing of the child actors who play the integral and crucial roles of making the North Pole come alive to our guests onboard as they pass through. This role requires excellent time management as well as a good understanding of the attitude an employee must have while engaging in the oversight of multiple children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as the main point of contact for parents/guardians dropping off and picking up their child actor. Present on-site whenever child actors are called (rehearsal, tech, performances) Work with HR staff to ensure all entertainment labor laws are followed lawfully daily and proper postings are present. Must be able to work a flexible schedule with night, weekend, and holiday hours. Work with the Special Events Manager to ensure all child actors are working a lawful schedule. Supervise all child actors who are present onsite and guide them throughout their show track. Act as liaison between child actors' parents and Special Events Manager regarding scheduling. Become familiar with railroad safety rules. Works with the entire event team to maintain a positive, enjoyable, and rewarding environment for all staff and passengers. Work with the Special Events Manager to build out a structured work environment for children. Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Primary work will take place at the North Pole site in Whittier, NC Able to stand for prolonged periods. Varying temperatures and weather conditions, both indoor and outdoor. Time spent in and around active railroad yard(s).
Education, Skill & Work Experience Requirements:
Experience working with children in a theatrical setting. Comfortable learning and enforcing minor entertainment labor laws based on state guidelines. Ability to work with parents or guardians of minors in an effective and personable manner. Ability to communicate with Special Events Manager information regarding scheduling of minors, breaks, meals, hours worked. Ability to work alongside the production staff as a team member in an ever-changing environment. Ability to work independently with self-motivation and attention to detail as well as excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to anticipate, recognize, and solve practical problems and resolve issues. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form. Ability to push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50 lbs. Must be able to work a flexible schedule with night, weekend, and holiday hours.
