Job Description

Save Ellis Island Tour Guide Position Summary We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Part-Time Tour Guide to provide memorable educational experiences for visitors. The ideal candidate is a confident public speaker who enjoys interacting with diverse audiences, has an interest in history, and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service. Job Responsibilities Conduct two (2) 90-minute guided tours during each scheduled workday. Present the history of the hospital using a provided tour script while incorporating your own engaging presentation style. Welcome visitors and create a positive, informative, and enjoyable experience. Answer visitor questions in a professional, friendly, and knowledgeable manner. Maintain a courteous and professional presence throughout each tour. Assist with visitor check-in as needed. Support basic sales of tours. Perform routine administrative tasks related to the position. Assist with special events and education programs as assigned. Participate in periodic training sessions and stay current on new interpretive content. Comply with all health, safety, and museum policies and procedures. Qualifications Excellent communication and public speaking skills. Friendly, outgoing, and customer-service oriented. Ability to engage audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Reliable and punctual with the ability to work independently. Comfortable learning and presenting historical information. Basic computer and administrative skills are preferred. Work Schedule This is a part-time position requiring a 3 day consistent weekly schedule of:
Saturday:
10:00 AM•3:00
PM Sunday:
10:00 AM•3:00
PM Monday:
10:00 AM•3:00 PM Candidates must be willing to work this established schedule, which includes weekends and holidays as required. Free ferry transport from New York City or bridge access from Jersey City, NJ will be provided.
