Job Description
The mission of the Children s Museum Houston is to transform communities through innovative, child-centered learning that improves the trajectories of all children in Greater Houston. For more than four decades, Children s Museum Houston has supported student achievement, empowered parents, and ignited a life-long love of learning. We are consistently rated as one of the top children's museums in the nation. Our program serves more than 900,000 participants annually at the museum, Fort Bend Children s Discovery Center, and 270+ outreach locations across Greater Houston. We welcome families with offerings that include 13 exhibits, a performing arts series, a full slate of cultural programming, science activities led by degreed educators, and weekly Free Family Nights.
Job Summary:
The Faithful Friends Educator will engage children and families in the Faithful Friends and Seasons of Sharing exhibits and related programs and partnerships.Position term:
Through December 2027 Pay rate: $30/hour Hours per week: up to 20 hoursAvailability:
Weekdays, weekends, and Thursday/Friday nightsDuties and Responsibilities:
Lead visitor engagement strategies for the Faithful Friends and Seasons of Sharing exhibits, including: Storytimes Hands-on workshops Exhibit-based demonstrations Conversations Assist in meeting overall goals by nurturing partner relationships and ensuring sustainability. Facilitate activities in other cultural galleries and programs within the Museum as needed. Collaborate with fellow exhibit educators to foster a cohesive team environment. Prioritize psychological safety for all visitors. Report and follow up on repair and improvement needs.Daily responsibilities include:
Restocking supplies Troubleshooting malfunctioning exhibits Calling for assistance when necessary Represent Children s Museum Houston positively through attitude, communication, and enthusiasm. Contribute to evaluation efforts.Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree requiredSkills and Qualifications:
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. An interest in thinking outside the box to teach a wide variety of topics to a diverse audience. Excellent leadership and communication skills. The ability to interact effectively with children, adults, and partners and to teach with empathy and tactfulness. A passion for religious pluralism as well as diversity of thought and beliefs.
