The work site for this position is the King County Elections Building located at 919 SW Grady Way inRenton, WA Work Schedule:
Start dates for these assignments are schedule for October 9 and November 1, 2026 for the General Election; assignments may last for a few days, up to one (1) month. The work schedule on Election Day will be adjusted to start earlier and end by 11:00pm. The number of hours average 20 hours per week but may be more or less as work needs change. The work schedule will vary according to the workload, generally starting at 7:00am and ending around 2:00pm, including additional evenings and weekends. This position is non-exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay. Working as part of a two-person team, this position will drive and navigate an assigned vehicle (to include a 16-ft box truck, cargo van, minivan, and/or other county vehicle) to assigned locations to collect ballots from drop boxes following standard department procedures and election law; Answer basic voter questions; load and unload ballots and securely transport ballots back to the King County Elections Building in Renton; Process incoming ballots which may require standing or sitting in one location for long periods of time; Provide customer service and use team building skills; and Other administrative tasks, as assigned The ideal candidate will have: Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working in a diverse team environment; Ability to stand for long periods of time in inclement weather conditions; Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; Ability to use an Apple iOS smart phone device and applications; Ability to work with and provide exceptional customer service to the public; and Ability to bend, kneel, stand, reach, climb, stoop, squat, and lift 25 pounds Travel to work locations throughout King County with limited or no public transportation services is required. A valid Washington State Driver's License is required to operate King County Vehicles; Must be 21 years old. Positions will be filled as either an Administrative Specialist I ($26.74/hour) or a Truck Driver I ($32.16/hour) depending upon the needs of the Elections Department and the candidate's skills testing and interview. A final offer of temporary employment will be contingent upon the review of an official Washington State Driving Abstract establishing a good driving record.Testing:
Candidates who meet the qualifications will be invited for group testing and interviews which is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 21, 2026. Testing will consist of a small physical capacity test of no more than 25 pounds and a basic driving test.Union:
This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117, Joint Units Agreement.Physical Requirements:
