At the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, we strive to deliver a memorable experience for our guests. Situated on the shores of scenic Lake Spenard, one mile from Anchorage International Airport and four miles from downtown Anchorage, the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel is the perfect starting point to explore the many wonders Alaska has to offer. The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel boasts 248 rooms and three outstanding food and beverage outlets. The role of the banquet server is to assist with setting-up, serving guests and clean-up of our banquet events such as weddings, meetings, and luncheons. This is a fast-paced position that will involve constant guest interaction. This position is responsible for exceeding our guests' expectations by providing exceptional service throughout their event. Typical duties of the banquet server include: Knowledgeable of event menu items and their contents, appropriate table settings and service ware, and the correct preparation and garnishing methods. Assist with food and table prep before the event begins. Set up buffets with food presentation standards and practices in mind, ensuring safe food handling performance. Serve plated dinners to guests and respond to requests for beverages and other needs. Responds quickly to requests from guests, supervisors or management in a timely, friendly and efficient manner. Carves meats, bones fish and fowl, and prepares flaming dishes and desserts. Ladles soup, tosses salads, portions pies and desserts, brews coffee, and tea. Clean up after event ends and assist with inventory, food storage and other closeout tasks.
The successful applicant will:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong organizational skills Ability to perform well in a high-pressured work environment. Adequate mathematical skills. Required to walk and stand throughout the majority of each shift. Regularly lift 20-40 pounds. Patience, tact and diplomacy. Ability to obtain TIPS certification. Must have a valid food handlers' card. Guest attentiveness and a neat appearance. Exceptional customer service skills. Work as a productive team member by contributing positive energy. Perform the duties of the position in a safe manner. Be professional in all interactions with guests and associates.
