Job Description

Server — Mediterranean Restaurant & Lounge, Melrose (Evenings, High Check Average) HZOR Entertainment Group Inc Los Angeles, CA Job Details Part-time $18.48 - $65.00 an hour 3 hours ago Benefits Food provided Paid sick time Qualifications Spanish Wine knowledge Russian Farsi Armenian Full Job Description Theía is a Mediterranean restaurant and lounge on Melrose. We're hiring experienced servers for evening service. Here's the honest pitch: this is a high-check room, and it is not a big floor. Our guests come for birthdays, celebrations, dates and nights out. They order bottles, showpiece mains, mezze for the table and hookah. Our average check runs over $200. Because we staff lean, that check average lands on very few servers — which is why our tips per hour are what they are. Over the last eight weeks our servers have averaged $50-65 per hour all-in, wage and tips together, with Friday and Saturday running well above that. Those are our real numbers, not a recruiting line, and we'll show you the basis for them in the interview. No lunch. No brunch. Five nights a week, evenings only. How we think about the job You are running a small business inside this restaurant. Your section is the business, the check average is your revenue, the second visit is your growth, and the way you make people feel is the entire product. We train to a written standard. We run at two speeds and you'll need both. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday are warm, slow and conversational — you learn names and you build regulars. Friday and Saturday there's a DJ and the room is a party — faster, higher energy, shorter sentences. Same standard, different tempo. What we're looking for 1+ year serving in a full-service restaurant, lounge or nightlife venue Genuine warmth. We can teach the menu; we can't teach hospitality Real menu discipline: for every dish you'll need to know what's in it, whether it contains nuts, dairy, gluten, shellfish or pork, whether it's vegan, whether it's spicy, and what to drink with it. On allergies we never guess — "let me check with the kitchen" is always the right answer Clean under volume — you can hold a full section at 10pm on a Saturday Cocktail and wine knowledge, or real appetite to learn ours Must be 21+ (we serve alcohol at the table and hookah) Friday and Saturday nights are non-negotiable Able to stand 10+ hours and lift up to 30 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation Willing to complete California RBS alcohol server certification within 60 days of hire — we pay for it Bilingual (Armenian, Spanish, Farsi, Russian) is a plus Compensation & schedule $18.42 per hour (City of LA minimum wage) plus tips — in California you keep your tips on top of the full hourly wage. There is no tip credit here. $10 per bottle sales spiff, paid on your paycheck, on top of the tip pool Wednesday-Sunday, evenings. Mondays and Tuesdays off. Shift meals Paid sick leave under California law and the City of Los Angeles Minimum Wage Ordinance To apply: Email your resume to , subject line "Server."
