Job Description

Cajun Kitchen Ventura is searching for ONE part-time individual to join our Downtown team in a hybrid position working as a Server and Busser. Applicants must be available during the week and weekends from 7:30 am - 3:00 pm. Server Job Description A server contributes to Cajun Kitchen Cafe's mission of providing our guests with great excellent customer service by accurately recording and delivering guests' food orders while maintaining attention to detail on guests' breakfast orders. The server must be great at multitasking when entering, expediting, and processing payments or food orders. Servers maintain attention to detail when greeting guests, answering questions, or processing payments, always maintaining a coherent, friendly, and enthusiastic manner while executing all their responsibilities and tasks with a smile. Additional responsibilities include assisting the FOH team with side work and maintaining the cleanliness of the department. Busser Job Description As a busser, you are responsible for assisting the servers to provide our customers with excellent service and cater to their meal needs and preferences. Before the restaurant opens, you will be required to help the opening server with the setting up of the outdoor patio dining area. Once open, you are responsible for greeting, seating, and offering drinks to all incoming guests. During their meal, a busser will go around the tables, offer refills, and retrieve any guest requests. Once the guests depart from their table, the busser must clear out and clean the tables for the next incoming party of guests. After closing, you will be responsible for the breakdown of the outdoor patio as well as the cleaning of the inside dining areas. Sweeping and mopping, taking out the trash, & bathroom maintenance are just a few of the tasks you will need to complete. Responsibilities A server has the following responsibilities and duties: Promptly greet & welcome guests Set the cash register in the morning to start the day Turn on equipment to begin the day Help set up the tables and patio area Take and enter customer orders Expedite and retrieve food orders and special requests Offer refills and monitor guest's dine-in experience Pre-buss tables while guests are enjoying their meal Drop off and process payments Assist the FOH team Maintain a clean area and dining rooms Complete side-work assignment• (See location manager for side-work list) Requirements A server should have the following skills, education, and experience: Minimum of 1 year of serving experience +18 years of age/High school diploma/GED Basic computer skills (iPad) Strong customer service Proficient communication skills: English Ability to work on feet for long periods (6 - 7.5 hours) Ability to lift 40 lbs Ability to demonstrate to have a teamwork mentality. Able to carry at least 4 plates at a time Basic math skills Great time management skills: Multitasker Calm under pressure Morning person (High energy) Reliable and punctual Expectations How do we work? This is the environment we want to establish and foster at Cajun Kitchen. Schedule & Rotation The schedule for shifts is posted on the WhenIWork® app. Modifications to schedules are done on the app. The manager approves or denies schedule adjustments before the confirmation is made. To be fair and consistent, we will be constantly looking to evaluate our team members to adjust schedules to maximize efficiency and allow team members the ability to request days off. Training Training will be at and provided by the cafe. The training period can last from 3-8 weeks. During training, the candidate will work in each role of the Front of the House to get a full understanding of the way we operate in the cafe. The goal is to develop a teamwork attitude while learning our menu items and dishes.
Compensation Wage Rate:
Minimum Wage Additional compensation: Tips Tips are pooled for the FOH on credit card transactions. Servers will contribute 35% of tips for such transactions into the pool for distribution. The remaining tips will be paid on your bi-monthly paycheck. Cash tips are taken home daily.
