Job Description

Position Summary:
The Server is responsible for supporting the daily operations of Blackbelly by performing assigned duties in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures. This role contributes to delivering high-quality guest experience while maintaining a safe, clean, and professional work environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
HOSPITALITY & GUEST SERVICE
  • Provide exceptional hospitality from arrival through departure, personalizing the experience based on guest preferences and reservation notes
  • Enhance the guest experience by thoughtfully suggesting menu additions, wine pairings, and seasonal offerings that complement their selections
  • Recognize and warmly acknowledge repeat guests, building lasting relationships through personalized attention and genuine appreciation for their continued patronage
  • Set clear expectations with guests regarding menu structure, pacing, coursing, and pricing
  • Monitor guest satisfaction proactively and navigate service challenges, guest concerns, and high-pressure situations with tact and grace, escalating to management when necessary; handle signs of intoxication discreetly and immediately involve management
PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE & SERVICE EXECUTION
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all food and beverage offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, allergens, and dietary accommodations
  • Stay current on seasonal menu changes, special features, and prepare thoroughly for holiday service offerings and menus; participate in all formal training sessions
  • Execute proper fine-dining service techniques efficiently and precisely, including wine presentation, table maintenance, water and beverage service, bread service, crumbing, marking, clearing, and resetting between courses
  • Deliver food and beverages with precision, providing verbal descriptions, confirming temperatures, and ensuring proper dish orientation
OPERATIONS & SYSTEMS
  • Accurately take, enter, and manage guest orders in the POS system, following established protocols for tickets, allergens, and modifiers
  • Document guest preferences, dining history, and notable details in the reservation system to support personalized service and relationship-building
  • Process payments accurately and reconcile cash and credit transactions according to cash handling procedures
  • Complete assigned opening, running, and closing side work accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain service stations and dining areas in clean, stocked, and organized condition throughout service Monitor and maintain restroom cleanliness and stock levels throughout service
TEAMWORK & COMMUNICATION
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with guests and across all roles — teammates, kitchen, leadership, and ownership
  • Collaborate with management and kitchen staff to execute personalized guest experiences, special requests, and dietary accommodations
  • Maintain awareness of the entire dining room and support teammates beyond assigned sections
  • Uphold team-service standards by running food, assisting with table clearing & resetting, and contributing to tip-pool expectations
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS & COMPLIANCE
  • Adhere to punctuality standards, arriving on time, in uniform, and prepared for service
  • Participate in pre-service meetings, menu tastings, and ongoing training
  • Adhere to dress code and grooming standards at all times
  • Maintain a proactive and friendly attitude and composed demeanor throughout service
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper hand washing, glove use, and food handling procedures; maintain TIPS certification and responsible alcohol service practices
  • Demonstrate integrity in all actions, including honest communication, accurate reporting, and genuine care for guests and teammates
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Pay:
$32.00 - $47.00 per hour
