Job Description
About us Carver Brewing Co. is the Southwest's original brewpub and has proudly served the Durango community since 1983. We're known for award-winning craft beer, quality food from our scratch kitchen, and a welcoming, talented team. Joining Carver's means becoming part of a Durango institution with deep roots and a commitment to genuine hospitality. Carver's is open 7 days a week with two shifts daily: Lunch shift: approximately 10:30 AM - 4:00 PM Dinner shift: approximately 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM Weekend and holiday availability is required for all positions. Front of House Staff work to provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive reputation for the organization. Previous experience in food service preferred but not required, training is available for the right candidates. Key Responsibilities Greet guests warmly upon arrival and create a welcoming first impression at the host stand Manage the seating chart and waitlist accurately during busy service periods Communicate estimated wait times clearly and check in with waiting guests Deliver food and drinks promptly and accurately to the correct table and seat Monitor the dining room floor — address guest needs proactively and alert servers or managers when assistance is required Handle guest concerns graciously and escalate to a manager when appropriate Kitchen & Floor Coordination Communicate clearly with kitchen and bar staff on order timing, modifications, and special requests Inspect plates at the expo window to confirm accuracy and presentation before running to tables Manage the flow of food from kitchen to table, particularly during high-volume service Restock and organize server stations, condiment caddies, and bussing supplies throughout the shift Cleaning & Sanitation Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently between guests Transport bussing carts and tubs to the kitchen dish area Refill ice bins, stock glassware, and maintain cleanliness of dining room, restrooms, and host stand Follow all food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations at all times Team & Operations Collaborate with FOH and BOH team members to maintain a smooth, efficient service environment Attend pre-shift meetings and stay current on daily specials, 86'd items, and brewery updates Assist in opening and closing side work as assigned Adhere to all Carver's uniform, appearance, and conduct standards Qualifications Required Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift on hard surface flooring Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs (bussing tubs, ice, supply boxes) repeatedly throughout a shift Ability to reach, bend, and maneuver in a fast-paced, sometimes tight restaurant environment Reliable availability including weekends and holidays Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude Preferred (not required — we train the right people) Prior experience in a restaurant, café, bar, or hospitality environment Familiarity with POS systems (we use Toast) Knowledge of or genuine interest in craft beer, wine, and food Experience handling cash and processing card payments Pay is hourly rate of $12.14 plus tips.
