Job Description

The Griswold Inn in Essex, CT has openings for year-round, full or part-time servers with a minimum of two year's experience in full-service dining for our Historic Dining and Wine Bar & Bistro experiences and/or banquets. Qualified candidates will need to be available to work a flexible schedule consisting of lunch and dinner shifts, and weekends. Must be 18 or older with reliable transportation. The candidate must be reliable, enthusiastic and accustomed to a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
A typical skill set includes:
Guest service-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and a team player mindset. Professional/high standard of custom service of food, beverage, cocktails, wine and beer. Knowledge of basic menu food and beverage service procedures. Knowledge of POS system - preferrably Toast - and cash handling. Prepares the tables, laying out napkins and utensils, making sure the condiments are refilled, performing all other side work. Staying updated on current menus and practice suggestive selling. Maintaining the proper dining experience, delivering items with use of trays, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling beverages. Properly open and pour wine tableside. Issuing guest checks and receipts, accepting payments, returning change. Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor. Greet all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting. Adhere to uniform and service standards consistently, maintaining a tidy appearance of service station and oneself. Communicate products and services available at the Inn. Ability to be on your feet and alert for extended periods of time, and lift up to 30 lbs. as needed.
